We caught up with Sportun to learn more:

Q: For those who aren’t familiar, what is Anne Sportun?

A: Anne Sportun is an iconic fine jewelry brand you can wear every day. My work is designed and handmade in Toronto at our Queen Street West location. I founded the brand in the late ’80s and our journey reflects a deep-rooted passion for artisanal craftsmanship based on my training as a goldsmith …

Specializing in alternative engagement, wedding rings and future heirloom pieces, Anne Sportun offers couples a unique expression of love and commitment by offering customized design services. Admired by discerning individuals like Sarah Polley and Jessica Biel, our jewelry is universal, blending sophistication with an organic and earthy feel to inspire and delight across generations.

Q: What makes it unique?

A: What truly distinguishes Anne Sportun is our vertical integration — from design conception to manufacturing, everything happens under one roof. We ensure that each piece of our fashion and bridal jewelry is crafted to last a lifetime. My daughter Haley Woodbury now shares in the design work to express my vision of “precious, everyday,” elevating the everyday with jewelry you love to wear.

Q: What made this the right time to reveal a new boutique design?

A: After 20 years in our Queen Street West location (742 Queen St. W.), and with Haley recently stepping up as my partner, it was time for a fresh look to mark this exciting new chapter. Working with Superkül was an easy choice, especially since Meg Graham, the founder, has been a part of our journey for nearly 30 years — it’s like coming full-circle. We’re thrilled to create a beautiful space that reflects our brand’s evolution and celebrates our enduring connection with our customers.

Q: What can people expect to find in-store?

A: Visitors can expect a diverse array of offerings beyond our signature jewelry pieces. Alongside our designs, we proudly feature the work of independent artists from across North America, each piece reflecting craftsmanship and quality catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Most of all, people can expect a welcoming environment and a relaxed atmosphere that allows them to explore and discover at their leisure. We like to know that every customer walking into the store can find and afford something — this is important to us.

Q: Lastly, what is next for the brand?

A: Looking ahead, Anne Sportun is poised for exciting growth and innovation. We’re thrilled to introduce elevated new jewelry brands in our store, with designers Artemer and White Space joining our curated selection.

Moreover, Haley and I are collaborating on a limited-edition capsule collection titled Archive, featuring a range of one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by my original designs from the ’90s to the early 2000s. These rings, adorned with vibrant, colourful gemstones, are perfect for stacking or wearing solo. As we continue to evolve, our focus remains on crafting timeless pieces that resonate with our customers and give them joy every day.
