The Museum at In good shape (MFIT) introduced on Wednesday the start of a new exhibition that explores the effect of foodstuff and foods lifestyle on fashion style.
Dubbed ‘Food & Fashion’ and operating September 13 to November 26, 2023, the exhibition features over 80 clothes and components by designers together with Chanel, Moschino, and Stella McCartney.
It is co-curated by Melissa Marra-Alvarez, MFIT’s curator of education and learning and analysis, and Elizabeth Way, the museum’s affiliate curator of costume.
The exhibition begins in the introductory gallery with a section titled ‘A Working day of Foods as Fashion’, the place site visitors embark on a sensory journey as a result of breakfast, lunch, and meal, exploring the prevalence of food stuff-impressed themes in apparel.
From ‘The Manner Kitchen’ to ‘The Significant Style Restaurant’, the exhibition gives a glimpse into the convergence of food items and manner in our day to day life. Bridging the hole between manner and the digital age, ‘The Digital camera Eats First’ part examines the influential role of social media as a platform in which food items and fashion intersect all through the day.
Stepping into the key gallery, readers are greeted by a setting reminiscent of a food corridor. The gallery showcases 10 themes, every single represented by stalls. ‘Haute Couture/Haute Cuisine’ illuminates the intertwined heritage of French luxury ‘Dressing to Dine’ explores the sartorial options dictated by distinctive mealtimes and ‘A Feast for the Eyes’ examines the intersection of food items, style, and artwork in up to date design.
However, the exhibition extends over and above the runway and clothes. ‘The Style Cookbook’ area highlights how vogue designers have expanded their imaginative endeavors by means of cookbooks that channel their exclusive aesthetics and values.
